When you meet Valerie & David something becomes clear immediately. These two people were meant to be together. They share the same values, they both absolutely put family first, they both have the same sense of humour. Neither could imagine living anywhere else but where they do – in the country.
With country & Hawaiian roots in the family they chose an unusual theme for their wedding: Western-Hawaiian. Taking place in a campground just outside the small town of Mossleigh. I admit, at first I was curious as to how this was going to turn out…but Valerie & David’s wedding was amazing! The location they chose, Aspen Crossing, is a super cool place. My favourite was the old train cars – some you can eat in, or sleep in, or even go for a ride in! There’s also a couple of big beautiful green houses where Val & David had their reception as well as a gift shop & a campground. This of course, is surrounded by country roads, canola fields & train tracks. Spectacular spot for a wedding!
Guests travelled from all over & were encouraged to wear their best Western or Hawaiian outfits & everyone did! It was a smoking hot day but everyone was laid back, especially the bride & groom. They were enjoying being surrounded by the people they love & doing exactly what they love to do, be together. David told us once he & Val were sitting on the back porch one evening enjoying a cold beer & 3 hours went by before he realized they hadn’t even said a word. They were both perfectly happy watching the sunset & simply enjoying it together, no words were needed.
There were so many fabulous touches at this wedding: leis flown in from Hawaii, hand painted signs, a custom themed country cake, many family heirlooms, mementos & photos of family & of course, a rocking country band: Kixxsin
Later in the night we snuck away with Valerie & David & captured my favourite photos of the day. Sunset photos in a field with an old dilapidated barn. It was definitely worth the mosquito bites & scratches from the long grass.
Congrats Valerie & David – we feel so honoured to have been able to capture your wonderful wedding day. Thank you for making us feel like part of the family. Enjoy the photos!
