Intro to dslr camera course – DSLR on Demand
Do you have a fabulous camera & have no idea how to use it? Or maybe you have an idea how to use your DSLR camera – but want to learn more to be able to create images you’ll really be proud of? We can help. We now have Intro to dslr classes on demand. We come to you – when & where you want. Min of 2 people, the more the merrier.
About the DSLR on Demand course:
Small classes – lots of hands on working with students. This class is beneficial to those who have a digital SLR camera, and are baffled at how to use the thing!
Have you asked yourself these kinds of questions: What do all these buttons do? What do the symbols mean? Why don’t my photos turn out how I want them to? Why are my photos are too dark/light? How come my photo is out of out of focus? Why are the colours all weird? Then this course is an excellent way to get to know how and why your camera makes these decisions for you, and how you can start taking artistic control and creating images that you will be proud to show off! What you will learn in our introduction to DSLR course:
-Keeping your camera and lens clean/how to clean
-Shooting mode and Play(image review) mode
-How to hold and shoot with your camera correctly (posture)
-Basic perspective elements
-Different shooting modes built into your camera. How and when to use them.
-Introduction to shooting in manual mode
-How to use cameras internal light meter
-Understanding the 3 critical elements to making a great image – ISO, FStop (aperture) & Shutter Speed

Just announced: Toddler to teen photography workshop
June 23, 24+25
The transition from toddler to teen happens in the blink of an eye. Come learn how to document it with some beautiful photos. Our new toddler to teen photography workshop is coming up June 23, 24, 25. It’s been a few years since I taught at The Camera Store & this time we’re changing things up & getting more hands on for this workshop over an info packed weekend!
Friday evening from 6-9pm will be all about what makes a great photo. Anyone can take a photo, but capturing a beautiful image that is interesting & tells a story is a skill. We’ll also go over how to shoot in different types of light, what’s in my camera bag, what exactly I bring & use at shoots. We’ll also cover the different developmental stages of kids & how to photograph them.
Saturday is a bit of review from Friday night’s class & then shooting at f8’s photo studio! We’ll have a toddler to photograph & since I don’t know any toddler who’s willing to act natural with a dozen cameras pointed at them, the class will observe while I photograph him both inside & out (weather dependant).
Next up is our teen shoot. We have 2 teens who I will photograph & then it’s your chance! Each class participant will have some time to photograph a (hopefully) happy teenager & be able to ask questions & get feedback & encouragement from me (or matt) while doing it.
Sunday afternoon is critique time. Bring in 2 images from our shoot the day before, or from your portfolio. We will critique the images & provide helpful feedback so you can keep improving your photography in the future with your new skills.
Of course, as everyone knows, I love a deal! The Camera Store has awesomely provided a special 10% off for the toddler to teen photography workshop. Use the promo code: 10F8PHOTO at checkout.
Spots will be very limited so get more info. & grab your spot for the June 23, 24, 25 Toddler to Teen workshop here. See you in June!
